最近銀座で開催した展覧会が完売したことは、私に多くの喜びと満足感をもたらしてくれた。思慮深く、哲学的で、触覚的な視覚体験。銀座という、時に異様なまでの緊張感を伴うこの心境に関われば関わるほど、銀座が好きになる。東京の、つまりは日本の鼓動する中心で実践しているからというだけではない。
私：「亜 真里男 ザ・銀座 油画家」
面白いことに、青山、渋谷、中目黒、新宿などの「伝統的な」ギャラリーで開催した個展よりも多くのビジターやコレクターが訪れる。
私の銀座が好きな理由を挙げればキリがない。
国際的で、クールで、センスがあって、スタイリッシュで、クレイジーで、アナーコで、下町で、暖かくて、モンディーンで、人の温かみがあって、美味しくて、チャーミングで、安くて、面白くて、ピンクで、高くて、豪華で、ゴージャスで、贅沢で、伝統的で、プライドが高くて、絶妙で、謙虚。
和光、ミキモト、中央通り、松屋、伊東屋、ティファニー、かわいいブルジョワ、安全で清潔。
銀座は香水。
ホステスクラブ、アフター商売、並木通り、品質重視、質の高い手仕事、スノッブ、セクシー、すずらん通り、洗練された、多世代の店がある、ブランド的、クールなデザイン、資生堂、洒落た雰囲気、ファッショナブル、金春通り、銭湯、社会主義、退廃的、着物、歌舞伎座、流行遅れ、ポスト・ポスト・モダン、高級料理、信頼できる、コージー、夢・希望、文学、フィクション、シミュレーション、ライブハウス。

11月3日の文化の日から、私の次の展覧会「第5回 亜 銀座・コンセプト展」が始まる。私のコレクションに新作の油彩画を加えて展示する。折衷的な並置の概念としてのコンテクスト。挑発的でも思いやりがあり、思慮深い態度で、私側からのキュラトリアル東西哲学的実践を試みる。
同じ文脈に位置する私の尊敬する観客は知っている。この和洋融合が、日本画家である私の存在意義の一部であることを。
数年前には、「レオナール・嗣治・フジタと猪熊弦一郎」、「会田誠と岡田裕子」などの素晴らしい銀座展を実現することができた。
2024年、亜 銀座・コンセプト展 @ GINZA APARTMENTS」（英語では「A GINZA CONCEPT SHOW @ GINZA APARTMENTS」）を通じて、戦争と恍惚の魅惑的な響きが銀座の街に響き渡った。確かに銀座は、そのディストピア的な瞬間も含めて、隠喩的なファンタジー都市を体現している。
明らかに、年を取れば取るほど謙虚さが失われていく。なぜこのような結論になるのか？
分析的で鋭い批評的な目を通して、
グローバルなアートワークの幅広い経験を通して、
異なる文化圏との複数の比較を通して、
自分自身が日本で創作した作品の美術史的価値を評価し、認識しているからである。

私は自分を日本で最も重要で影響力のある現代アーティストの一人だと考えている。日本美術史の一部となり、「日本（人）アーティストとは何か」という文脈でパイオニアとして認知されている。「日本の社会化（socialisation）は、どの時点、どのタイミングで、 Mario A を日本（人）アーティストにしたのか？」
なぜ私は日本人のように感じ、行動するのか？
500年の西欧油絵史を背負っている以上、日本の画家としての影響力の及ぶ範囲は日本美術史に宿命的な要素を含んでいる。

ここで2人の美術評論家の言葉を引用する。市原研太郎氏「永遠の革命家としての日本の芸術家マリオ・A」、故 名古屋覚氏「マリオ・A、日本で最も優れた才能を持った、いや、最も優れた唯一の油彩画家」。

日本のアートシーンは、私の作品を日本国外に輸出することを許さないことを知っている。つまり、私の作品の所有者が他の国に移った場合、状況が許せば、私がコレクターから作品を買い戻し、所有者はその作品を返却しなければならない。

今日、世界中で50以上の展覧会を開催してきた私は、4年後に、芸術活動を終了する予定であることを喜んで発表する。
というのも、新しい、先鋭的な、驚きのある、世界的に見たことのない作品を積極的に創作することは、ある種の倫理的責任を伴い、場合によっては、批判的な意味でも、地域のアート業界への社会的関与を伴うからである。
日本の現代アートのトレンドセッターとして、「ノブレス・オブリージュ」は当てはまる。

どういうことか？その答えは、私が東京で3回個展を開いたMIZUMA ART GALLERY ミヅマアートギャラリーの三潴末雄という元アートディーラーの次の一言にある。
これは、私にとって極めて重要で、目を見張るような、注意深く評価すべき、私の日本に対する、個人的な、実存的な一文となった。

「君の作品は強すぎる。つまり、会田の作品が負けちゃうから」。

この転機によって、日本が好きな理由を改めて考えるようになった。
会田が大好きだから、私はミヅマから離れた。

そういう意味で：フェア・ウォーニング！
4年後、私は自分の作品を公に壊し始める。一歩一歩。私は本気だ：Non, je ne regrette rien！
私と一緒に回顧展の企画を考えてくださる親愛なる学芸員の方へ、覚えておいていただきたい。私の日本語はほぼ流暢で、社交的にはとても礼儀正しく、「扱いやすい」人間であること。テーマの繊細さや美術館のスペースにもよるが、およそ10～30点の作品群（Werkgruppen / body of works）が利用可能であること。
もし神様と必要な健康条件が私をあと4年豊かに生きることを許してくれるなら。

The sold-out exhibitions I recently held in Ginza brought me a lot of joy and satisfaction. Thoughtful, philosophical, and tactile visual experiences. The more I get involved with Ginza, a state of mind that can sometimes feel strangely tense, the more I like it. It’s not just because I practice in the center of Tokyo, ergo the beating heart of Japan.
Me: 「亜 真里男 ザ・銀座 油画家」”Mario A – The Oil Painter from Ginza”.
Interestingly, Ginza attracts more visitors and collectors than the solo exhibitions I held at “traditional” galleries such as in Aoyama, Shibuya, Nakameguro, Shinjuku etc..
There is no end to the reasons why I love Ginza. It’s international, cool, tasteful, stylish, crazy, anarcho, downtown, warm, mondaine, human warmth, delicious, charming, cheap, interesting, pink, expensive, luxurious, gorgeous, extravagant, traditional, proud, exquisite, and humble.
Wako, Mikimoto, Chuo-street, Matsuya, Itoya, Tiffany, cute bourgeois, safe and clean.
Ginza is perfume.

On November 3rd, the ‘Day of Culture’ in Japan 文化の日, starts my next exhibition 第5回 亜 銀座・コンセプト展 (In English: “5th A GINZA CONCEPT EXHIBITION”). Intertwined with works from my collection, I’ll be showing new oil paintings. Context as notion of eclectic juxtapositions. This time focussing on some of my peers. Provoking, caring and thoughtful in attitude. Curatorial east-west-philosophical practice from my side.

In the same context, my respected audience knows, that this kind of blending of Japanese and Western style 和洋折衷 is part of my raison d’être as a Japanese artist 亜 真里男 (Mario A), because my oil paintings exactly mirror this fusion culture.

A few years ago, I was able to hold wonderful Ginza exhibitions, together with my works: “Léonard Tsuguharu Foujita and INOKUMA Genichiro”, “AIDA Makoto and OKADA Hiroko” and many more.

In 2024 mesmerising rumblings of war and ecstasy via the 亜 銀座・コンセプト展 @ GINZA APARTMENTS」(In English: “A GINZA CONCEPT EXHIBITION @ GINZA APARTMENTS”) echoed throughout the streets of Ginza. Indeed, Ginza, including its dystopian moments, embodies a metaphorical fantasy city.

Obviously, the older you get, the less humble you become. How do I arrive to this conclusion?

Because you appreciate and recognise, via analytical, sharp, critical eye, via the extensive global art work experiences, via the multiple comparisons with different cultural environments, the art historical value of your created works in Japan.

Recapitulating, I consider myself as one of the most important and influential contemporary artists in Japan.

Becoming part of Japanese art history, recognised as a pioneer in the context of “what does it mean to be a Japanese artist?”. “At what point, at what time, did the Japanese socialisation make Mario A a Japanese artist?”

Why do I feel and act like a Japanese person?

Since as a Japanese artist, I also carry 500 years of European oil painting history on my shoulders, the scope of my influential work takes on a fateful component of Japanese art history.

May I quote art critic ICHIHARA Kentaro “Mario A. An Artist of Japan as an Eternal Revolutionary” and the late art critic NAGOYA Satoru “Mario A, one of the most brilliantly gifted–or perhaps I should say, the single most brilliantly gifted––oil painting artist in Japan”.

The Japanese art scene knows, that if circumstances allow, I am buying back my works from the collector and don’t allow to export my work outside of Japan. Means, if the owner of my work transfers to another country she/he has to return that acquisition.

Today, with over 50 exhibitions around the globe, I am pleased to announce that I plan to end my artistic career in four years.

After all, being proactive and creating new, radical, surprising and globally unprecedented works requires a certain ethical responsibility and, in some cases, critically-wise, social commitment to the local art industry.
As a trendsetter in Japanese contemporary art, “Noblesse Oblige” applies.

Why is that so? The answer lies in the following, for me crucial, eye-opening, carefully evaluating, my-love-towards-Japan-personal-existential, sentence by my former art dealer MIZUMA Sueo 三潴末雄 of MIZUMA ART GALLERY ミヅマアートギャラリー, where I had 3 solo exhibitions in Tokyo.

「君の作品が強すぎる。つまり、会田の作品が負けちゃうから。」”Your works are too strong. In other words, Aida’s works will lose out.”

As I love Aida, I left Mizuma.
This turning point in my career made me rethink why I love Japan.

In this sense: Fair Warning!
In 4 years I’ll start to destroy my art works, publicly. Step by step. I am serious: Non, Je ne regrette rien!

The dear curator, who would like to organise a retrospective with me, should know that, depending on the delicacy / sensitivity of the themes and on the space in the public or private museum, approximately 10-30 body of works (Werkgruppen 作品群) are available.

If God and the necessary health conditions let me live another prosperous 4 years.

I’m almost fluent in Japanese, socially-wise very polite, “easy to handle” as a person.

Genius loci: Egon Schiele vs Mario A

I develop strong emotional feelings to every artist who creates or reflects “la condizione umana”. In addition to Hans Bellmer or Otto Dix or Pierre Bonnard, Egon Schiele is also among my “genius loci”. Namely more about the ‘mental space’, in which their works occupy my brain, make me think, elaborate. It has been proven that there are numerous parallels between me and Egon Schiele. To write down an analytical art criticism of Egon Schiele’s Gesamtkunstwerk here would be presumptuous, since excellent texts have already been written worldwide.

It would also go beyond the scope of this blog concept.
My attentive readers know about my artworks, consequently a bridge to Egon Schiele is mentally established. This associative curatorial practice naturally involves a new form of perception, as I often track down unknown works. A luxury art experience that costs the reader no money. In the contemporary context, I try to introduce the artist personally.
On the basis of my Japan-related artistic practice, a new perspective on Schiele’s can be opened, precisely because we both possess similar, analytical perspectives regarding humanity. Not to overuse the word “genius loci”, because it implies also the artist’s habitat: Schiele = Vienna, Me = Tokyo, I also find affinities to the concept of “spiritus loci”. Here, the mental leap, the connotation associated with the Japanese contemporary elitist art center can be pretty easily noticed.
On the human scale, for the artist it’s more or less about survival in a foreign but cosmopolitan, expensive Megapolis, which embodies the paradox allure of Contemporary Chaotic Charming Tokyo.
The existential, philosophical relationship between me and Japan, which one has grown fond of.
Since as a “Japanese” artist (nota bene: an artist from Japan) I also carry 500 years of “European” oil painting history on my shoulders, the scope of my influential work takes on a fateful component of Japanese art history.

In this context, the allegorical comparison to the above mentioned artists helps. The love towards Japonisme, the love about oil painting, the respectful love and appreciation of the (complicated) Human Experience. Monocausalities are deliberately scrambled to create a tension.
The artist embedded in self-consciousness. With all imaginable philosophical facets, innate sensuality, affectionate transference and eroticism included.

島田雅彦：19世紀のパリ万博で貞奴が人気者になるとか、印象派の画家たちが浮世絵に興味を持ったりした頃から、今日にいたるまで、ヨーロッパの日本趣味というのはあまり変わっていないような気がするんですね。面白いことに、アメリカにはそういうものがない。やはり戦争した相手でもあるし、日系人の存在もあるから、ジャポニズムは影を潜めているけど、ドイツあたりだとまだ濃厚ですね。
マリオ：僕はジャポニズムが嫌いじゃないんです。むしろそれにこだわっています。写真に撮った生の鯛の頭も日本にしかないものだし、この着物の裾を引っ張ってくれたのが、僕にとってのジャポニズムなんです。僕が「ネオ・ジャポニズム＃1」を名づけたのは、このお尻！お尻が大好き。
島田雅彦：パンティー履かないってことですね。
マリオ：僕が想像できなかったのは、着物を着たら下に何も履かなくていいんですね。
島田雅彦：ええ、ノーパンです。
マリオ：それを知らなかったんですよ。それでこの写真の女性から初めて聞いたんです。何も履いてないって。ああ、そうなんですかって思って。
島田雅彦：感動したわけですね。
マリオ：感動したんです。それで、ちょこっと見せてくださいって言ったんです。
島田雅彦：ちょこっとじゃないですよね、これ（笑）。
マリオ：それは少しずつ、時間をかけて（笑）。そういう意味では僕はグルメなんですよ。グルメというのは、ゆっくり味わう。まず、足首のところだけとか。
島田雅彦：なるほど、膝まででちょっとパスタを食べて、お尻が出てようやく肉料理と。
マリオ：それで、普通は下着を履いてたら、跡が見えますよね。それがないところが、日本人独特の味です（笑）。下着を着ないことと、下着の跡がないこと、これが僕にとってはジャポニズムなんです。それを、現代のエキサイティングなものとして、写真に撮りたかったんです。
島田雅彦：そこまで細部にこだわると、ジャポニズムというものも相対化されていますね。ちょうど僕とマリオがベルリンにいたときに、ベルリン・ドイツ・オペラが日本で公演していて、その間にベルリンのオペラハウスで猿之助がスーパー歌舞伎をやるという、変な文化のトレードみたいなものが行われていましたけど、そういうジャポニズムを意識した大袈裟な国家レベルの文化交流ではなくて、もっと個人的な、つまり着物の下にパンティーを履いてないことに対する純粋な驚きと歓喜のようなものにこだわる姿勢が、ジャポニズム自体がもともと個人的なものであることを思い出させてくれるんですよ。ジャポニズムを不手だと言わずに、それをむしろ踏襲しながら細部にこだわってくることで、何か別の理解とか愛のようなものが芽生えていくような気がするんです。

私、マリオ、亜 真里男のアート・プラクティスにおけるアプローチは、まさにここにあります。個人的な経験や日本人女性との出会いの中で、非常にニュアンスのある、細かく構造化された日本のイメージが生まれ、それはミクロ・コスモスの領域からマクロ・コスモスの宇宙へと移行していきます。日本女性との極めて密接な接触は、知識を形成し、愛、親密な絆を意味する。
精神的な開放と積極的な愛情を通して、他者に対する私の尊敬の念は、哲学的な意味での形而上学的性格を形成し、それは5年ごとに問い直し、分析される必要があるのである。

日本に住んでいる私は、現代の日本人女性が進化し、変化し、socialization（社会化）していることをよく理解しています。だからこそ、私の作品（テキストを含む）における考察は、とても刺激的であり、日本女性の心理は、普遍的な女性の心理にかなり近いとさえ言えるのです。 私の日本でのアート・プラクティスの文脈では、いわば相互的な真髄として、日本の（フェミニン）心理に対するある種の知的な影響は、議論に値すると考えられる。(私の著書、日本の現代美術や文学に関するテキストを参照）。

哲学はせいぜい、有心者の魂が自ら発展させなければならない私という概念を、適合者に与えることができるに過ぎません。このことは、私の友人である雅彦くんとの対談の中、感受性と、状況に応じた敬意ある行動について、一部認識することができたと言えるでしょう。
「着物の下にパンティーを履いてないこと」の驚き、成人女性は「幼稚なパンティーを履いていること」の関係性、文化的な系統を結晶化させることは、限りなく楽しい。

19世紀以降、日本が海外で「エキゾチック」とみなされるようになったのは、ある程度、日本女性の責任だという分析もできる。今、「エキゾチック」という言葉だけが「クール」に置き換えられている。
異国情緒からクールネスつまりカッコよさへの移行に伴う魅惑の魔法を感じるには、哲学的なアプローチが必要なのは間違いない。

戦後、この75年の間に、日本女性の人相・体型は大きく変わりました。主に食生活と、畳ではなく椅子に一緒に座るようになったことが原因である。
陰毛を含む全身を剃る習慣は、電車の中の広告に反映されており、どの女の子もそれに沿って読むことができ、以下の証拠写真をご覧ください。自然体派、フェミニストである私、わき毛が好き、ジェンダー関係なく：脱毛反対。

思春期の日本女性の大きな特徴は、美しいものを受動的に眺めることに満足せず、美的感覚がエロティシズムを伴って彼女を刺激するような創造的な活動を目指していることである。彼女は、崇高な注目を浴びるだけでなく、外の世界に対して自分から何かを発信することを望んでいる。愛に飢えながらも、控えめな女性であり、飄々とした神秘的な女性。秘めたるエロティシストとして、徹底的に強い性欲を持ち、あらゆる工夫を凝らし、自分がコントロールできる安全なアンビエンスの中で、意図的に自分を解き放つ。
日本女性にとってのこの超越的な美の体験は、魂の自己体験として構想されている。
そして、さらに上位の魂の美、すなわち精神的に善い徳があり、その上にさらに上位の知性の美があり、それは最終的に哲学的な知識として経験できることを発見する。エウダイモニアの精神で、意識の高い日本女性はバランスのとれた精神状態を手に入れることができます。(日本男性によく見られる自己満足と混同しないように）。この哲学的な倫理観は、複数のパートナー（同性愛含む）との成功体験に基づくものであり、日本女性は究極の幸福、すなわち至福の境地にいるのです。

新作品群「日本女性の哲学的なパンティー美学論」は、1958年に出版された鴨居羊子の本「下着ぶんか論」にも通じるところがあります。
モダニズムの時代、解放された日本女性は、ランジェリーを身につけると心地よくなる…つまり、現在の文脈では「カワイイ・パンティー」を身につけると気持ちいいのです。
当然、英語にしても、Kawaii Pantyという言葉の意味はどこの国でも分かります。日本女性のお陰でございます（笑）。

こちらのパンティーはレディース用で、Mサイズ（ヒップ87～95）、「スタンダードショーツ」と名付けられている。「シンプルではきやすい」、3枚組で979円（税込）、どこでも売られている。
ジャポニズムに関連して、パンティーにはローマ字の「Aishisugite Daisukisugiru.」が選ばれており、日本語で「愛しすぎて 大好きすぎる。」とは書かれていない。正に「Nyanko & Kuma」も和洋折衷の亜 真里男のジャポニズム、いわゆるニッポン・パンティー・アート+カルチャーにぴったりな証拠（笑）。

和洋折衷というアプローチは、私の作品に繰り返し見られる特徴である。2016年、故名古屋覚 美術評論家は私を「日本で最も優れた油彩を制作する画家の一人、いや唯一の一人」と呼びました。
この油絵が実は日本画であることを、専門家やコレクターがギャラリーで再確認していました。
オーディエンス側には、ある程度の「目利き」が必要であり、非常に繊細で重層的な、洗練された作品、現場で誰もが理解できるわけではありませんでした。私は慣れているので、全く問題ありません。

とても素敵な女性の方が茶目っ気たっぷりに話してくれた「久しぶりに生命力を感じる」。亜 真里男の芸術性に富んだ哲学に普遍的、ユーモラスな言及。

日本の中心、東京の中央区、銀座中央ギャラリーから発信した、人生肯定感の始まり。Bravissima!
